AIR Development is led by Freddie Herschel-Shorland, an architectural designer working with existing buildings at the end of their life.
Freddie’s work is driven by a belief that architecture must respond more decisively to the environmental, material, and cultural conditions of the present.
Educated at the University of Cambridge, where he graduated with first-class honours as a prize winner and scholar, Freddie combines rigorous thinking with hands-on experimentation. Alongside his work at Tim Ronalds Architects, contributing to heritage, conservation, and new-build projects, he has developed a deep respect for existing fabric and the intelligence required to work carefully within it.
AIR exists as an active platform rather than a passive practice. It is founded on the conviction that meaningful architectural change does not come from waiting for permission, but from acting early, thinking clearly, and intervening with restraint. With growing connections across architecture and finance, the studio is positioned to collaborate, test ideas, and scale when the moment is right.
